Personal Data Privacy - Hong Kong

There is clear and increasing current public concern that the Personal Data Privacy Ordinance lacks the strict requirement of  the European GDPR for prior consent of the Data Subject to any collection of Personal Data - something lacking in the present Ordinance. There are increasing rumbles and flak about the Personal Data Privacy Commissioner liaising with the draftsman to put together the necessary amending bill to amend the Ordinance accordingly in this and some other ways though there is no public news on this yet.
