Uri Weinstok is a partner of BLP. A recognized consumer protection and IP expert, Uri is also the former Chairman of the Costa Rican Competition Authority and an international consultant for the World Bank and for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Uri's publication on consumer protection, the Handbook of Good Commercial Practices Towards Consumers was adopted by the Costa Rican Consumer Protection Authority as their official guide book for the private sector.

Uri’s practice includes complex trademark and copyrights litigation, advertising law, consumer protection law, and competition / antitrust law. He has litigated in leading cases in advertising and unfair competition issues. He advises local and international clients in issues related to consumer, competition, promotions, and advertising law issues. In addition, he represents clients in IP litigation and enforcement matters.
He has written numerous articles and spoken at several conferences on advertising, consumer and intellectual property law issues. Uri was named as one of the “40 under 40” most successful professionals by Costa Rica’s main financial newspaper, El Financiero.
Uri is active in International Trademark Association, where he is a member of the Anti-counterfeiting Committee as well a member of the Panel of Mediators.
He graduated with honors from the Universidad de Costa Rica (1996), and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Competition Law from King’s College, University of London (2001).
