Ricardo is a Partner at Abreu Advogados in Lisbon, in the IP, TMT and Data Protection practice. After having started as a trainee and Associate at Abreu Advogados (2002-2007), Ricardo left to work in other law firms and now (2017) returned to Abreu Advogados where he is an Associated Partner.
He focuses on advising clients in all aspects of Intellectual Property, as well as Technology, Media and Telecommunications related issues. This includes the responsibility for prosecution and litigation matters concerning trademarks, patents, designs and other industrial property rights, copyright and all aspects of advertising and entertainment law, where he has valuable knowledge and practice, including clearing ad campaigns, contests and sweepstake rules for international agencies. Ricardo also does transactional work in IP and IT related matters, as well as due diligence research and advice in respect of related assets in connection with mergers and acquisitions. He also has a wide-ranging experience in the field of new technologies and telecoms, doing work such as software and other technology licensing, regulatory work on emerging technologies and telecoms, internet and e-commerce related issues and all data protection related work, including data protection audits and the implementation of Portuguese data protection law and the GDPR.
